2nd Annual Special Education Teacher's Appreciation Event
This past weekend, WallynZavy’s Autistic Kids Can Do proudly hosted its 2nd Annual Special Education Teacher’s Appreciation Event in Plainfield, NJ — a joyful and heartfelt celebration of the educators who pour their time, talent, and compassion into supporting children with autism and special needs.
Held at Shiloh Baptist Church on Saturday, December 6th, the afternoon brought together teachers, families, community members, and advocates for a few well-deserved hours of recognition and gratitude. The atmosphere was warm and lively, filled with music, fellowship, free food, raffles, and plenty of smiles.
One of the highlights of the event was the inspiring keynote address from NJEA Vice President Petal Robertson, whose commitment to advocacy set a powerful tone. Union County Commissioner Rebecca Williams also spoke, emphasizing the essential role special education teachers play in strengthening the community. Educators Monique McNair and Laural Edwards-Clark shared their insights from the classroom, offering a meaningful look into the passion and dedication behind their work.
The entire afternoon served as a reminder of just how vital these educators are — not only to the students they support every day, but to the families who rely on their patience, creativity, and unwavering encouragement. Guests left feeling uplifted and grateful, united in their appreciation for the local heroes who make inclusive education possible.
